Today we are sad to announce that Reunited will cease all operations and we have allowed our players pursue new opportunities to further their careers elsewhere. One year ago we started Reunited and everyone involved with the organization had high hopes for our future together, but things don’t always go like they are supposed to. We are sorry to disappoint our loyal fanbase but hope that you will continue to support the Reunited players in the future.

Si apre cosi il triste comunicato stampa all’interno del quale viene annunciato il ritiro definitivo dalla scena di Overwatch di uno dei più storici e blasonati team competitivi del mondo: i Reunited.
A distanza di un anno dal loro ingresso nella scena competitiva, i lavori della squadra sono stati quindi arrestati con effetto immediato e tutti i giocatori si ritrovano ora nella scomoda situazione di free agents.

Un riferimento importante è stato fatto anche dal CEO del team Frederik Kragh Christensen riguardo la nascente Lega di Overwatch: il proprietario dei Reunited ha infatti precisato che “non hanno nulla contro Blizzard rispetto alla Lega e che, al contrario, sono entusiasti di seguire l’evoluzione della scena internazionale”.

To be very clear: we are not opponents to Blizzard’s work with the league and actually believe that this is what the industry needs to push forward. However, in the case of Reunited, the timing came at the worst possible moment. We look forward to following the league and cheer for the boys as they enter the most ambitious stage in esports history.

Sicuramente la scena internazionale perde cosi dei grandi protagonisti ma è il continente europeo a pagarne le conseguenze più elevate: delle migliori squadre del globo, sono ormai soltanto 3 quelle della nostra regione ancora attive e competitive: Ninjas in Pyjamas, Misfits e Rogue.
