Erano 15.000 i Dollari messi in palio da One Nation of Gamers e da VgVn per il torneo Start Democracy, evento la cui importanza è da ricondurre al fatto che, mediante questo, l’organizzazione ONoG vuole promuovere l’iniziativa “Start Democracy” che denuncia la la mancanza di parità nel trattamento tra atleti al fine di riconoscere ai protagonisti degli eSports gli stessi diritti di tutti gli altri specialmente per quanto riguarda la questione del visto d’ingresso.

In merito, VGVN ha comunicato:

“In the eyes of our government, not all games are created equal. Right now, many esports athletes are being denied visas because their game is not considered legitimate. The lack of equality across esports means that professional gamers miss out on major tournaments, diluting their competitiveness and denying gamers the opportunity to watch top athletes compete. What’s more, the reasoning behind these denials often comes down to a simple lack of education and understanding about esports.

It’s unacceptable, and it’s why we’ve joined forces with One Nation of Gamers (ONOG) to take a stand against unfair legislation and poor regulation for esports athletes. Together, we’re working to spread awareness about the challenges international athletes face and educate the people who can make the most impact: U.S. customs officials, leaders within the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office and the aspiring athletes fighting for the right to compete.

We believe that video games, and the people who play them, should be celebrated and protected. For the last 10 years, we’ve taken on issues like content censorship, video games and violence, and cloud taxes. We’ve launched petitions and a PSA to spread awareness about the rights of esports athletes. And now, more than ever, we need your help.

We created Start Democracy to ensure gamers’ voices are heard and encourage gamers to register to vote. With the 2016 presidential election fast approaching, we’re calling on gamers like YOU to turn out to vote and inspire your friends to do the same. La promozione della campagna chiamata “Start Democracy” ha visto 32 super giocatori di Heartstone sfidarsi durante il weekend in un torneo Single Elimination Bracket: di questi, 30 sono stati direttamente invitati a partecipare mentre gli altri due erano i vincitori di un open qualifiers che si è concluso pochi giorni fa.

La classifica finale ha visto Strifecro giungere al primo posto, immediatamente seguito da Hoej e dalla coppia Xixo/Th3Rat che si sono qualificati al 3°/4° posto.
La particolarità di questa competizione, oltre ovviamente allo scopo finale che questa aveva, era da ricondurre al fatto che all’interno della struttura era presente la voce “self-ban” e che quindi i partecipanti dovevano decidere quale eroe “bannarsi” prima dell’inizio della sfida.
